the 11th annual international festival
Our Cause
This year, CVHS Interact plans to raise $15,000 for youth afterschool programs in Puerto Rico in partnership with Vietnam Estudia. In June of 2019, members of our Interact Club visited CataNNNNNo and Vietnam, Puerto Rico as a continuation of 2018's International Festival and found a community we feel personally connected to.
Our goal this year is to raise $15,000 to help further education in Puerto Rico. Due to a lack of funding, many students do not have access to educational materials nor qualified instructors. As a nonprofit organization, the CVHS Interact Club makes a commitment to donating 100% of proceeds to Caras Con Causa, an educational nonprofit.

vIEW PRIOR YEARS

International Festival 2018-2019 :
NOVEMBER 9, 2018
We raised $14, 082 for telemedicine in Puerto Rico. Hurricanes Irma and Maria devastated Puerto Rico, incurring $94 billion in damages and resulting in approximately 3,000 deaths. Many Puerto Ricans no longer had access to the physicians and clinics they need, and many still do not have viable sources of food and clean water. Our donation went towards helping Puerto Ricans access medical services at clinics.

International Festival 2017-2018 :
MARCH 2, 2018

International Festival 2016-2017 :
NOVEMBER 11, 2016
We raised over $14,000 for the Guerrero Clinic. It is a free clinic that provides eye and dental care to up to 1,000 patients each week.
We raised $15,043 for the Children of the Dump Organization in Nicaragua. These teenagers face extreme poverty and lack the resources such as education, safe shelter, and a clean environment to escape their situation. These children were digging through the garbage, with their bodies full of open sores, desperately looking for something to eat. Children were competing with dogs, cattle, and adults for scraps of food.
The donation went to the purchase and planting of fruit-bearing trees for one of these villages so that families can harvest and sell the products, thus strengthening their economic situations.

International Festival 2015-2016 :
NOVEMBER 13, 2015

International Festival 2014-2015 :
NOVEMBER 14, 2014
We raised $14,283 for the adolescents at the Phatsimong Adolescent Centre, in Botswana, Africa. These teenagers deal with HIV/AIDS and lack the support system and resources needed to make them independent and successful. The Phatsimong Adolescent Centre treats more than 4,000 HIV-infected children and families around Botswana, with the ultimate goal of coordinating adolescent care throughout the country and to one day eliminate AIDS. The children the center helps often have difficulty adhering to their medication regimen and may suffer from behavioral or psychological problems due to their condition. Our donation facilitated the construction of a multi-purpose outdoor sports court--with outdoor sports flooring, basketball hoops, a volleyball net, and a shade netting cage that will encourage the adolescents to continue their regimen and become strong, influential individuals.
